What is PT-141?

Chemically, PT-141 is classed as melanocortin receptor agonist (MC3R and MC4R; cyclic alpha-MSH analogue). Its molecular weight is 1025.2 g/mol. The name covers the same material written several ways in the literature, including Bremelanotide, BMT and Vyleesi (US brand). Its sequence is recorded as Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH; the C-terminal free acid of the Melanotan II ring. Published work on it is in human. 8 of the 8 studies listed below are controlled trials in people. Supplied as lyophilised powder in 10 mg vials and a ready-mixed nasal spray, held in Canadian stock, for laboratory research. Nothing here is a medicine; it is not for human or veterinary use.

Nausea, flushing and headache were more common with bremelanotide.

Small, transient blood pressure rises were seen.

The combination did not bring new or more frequent adverse events.

Vaginal vasocongestion did not change significantly.

What these studies don't show: Controlled human data exists, but it is limited in scope. Who was enrolled, what was measured and for how long all constrain what the results mean. Nothing here speaks to use outside the trial protocol. Testing establishes identity and purity; it is not evidence of an effect.

PT-141 FAQ

What is PT-141?

Chemically, PT-141 is classed as melanocortin receptor agonist (MC3R and MC4R; cyclic alpha-MSH analogue). The published work on it is in human. Borealis Peptides supplies it as lyophilised powder in 10 mg vials and a ready-mixed nasal spray for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not a medicine and is not for use in humans or animals. Below, every cited paper is shown with the system it used and what it found.

Where can I buy PT-141 in Canada?

It ships within Canada from stock we hold, in 10 mg vials. Nothing leaves without HPLC confirmation of identity and purity for that batch. Borealis Peptides accepts research orders only, and ships to research and business addresses. Identity and purity are checked per batch, and the paperwork names that batch specifically.

Is PT-141 legal in Canada?

PT-141 has no Drug Identification Number, which is how Health Canada marks a drug it has authorized. No regulatory assessment of its safety, efficacy or quality has been carried out in Canada. Borealis Peptides supplies it for in-vitro laboratory research only, not for human or veterinary use. Health Canada has said that "Research Use Only" labelling does not make a product legal to use in a person, so we treat it as a description of what the material is supplied for rather than a permission.

How much PT-141 should I use?

Borealis Peptides gives no dosing, protocols or reconstitution volumes, and will not provide them on request. In laboratory work the amount follows from the study design, which a supplier cannot sensibly set. The figures on this page are what specific published studies used in their own models: a record of what was done, not a recommendation.

What human evidence is there for PT-141?

Of the 8 studies cited, 8 are controlled trials in people and the rest are animal or cell work. Each row names its model, the amount used and what the authors reported, so the weight of each study can be judged directly rather than through a summary.

How is PT-141 stored?

Hold sealed vials at −20 °C, dry and dark. Once reconstituted, 2–8 °C. The lyophilised powder tolerates ambient temperature in transit, so it ships without ice and goes into the fridge on arrival. Light and repeated warming do more damage than the journey.

Does PT-141 need bacteriostatic water?

The nasal spray arrives as a finished solution in its own bottle, so nothing is added to it: no bacteriostatic water, no mixing, no transfer. Only the lyophilised vial is supplied dry, and that is the one format bacteriostatic water applies to. It is sold separately.

How is the purity of PT-141 confirmed?

Identity and purity are confirmed by HPLC for each batch, not once per product. The certificate names the batch it belongs to, and that batch number is on the vial, so a result can be traced back to the exact material that produced it. Ask with your order number and we send it.

How does PT-141 compare with Melanotan II and Melanotan I?

They are not interchangeable, and this page makes no claim that one is preferable. Melanotan II and Melanotan I have 8 cited studies and 8 cited studies on their page against 8 here. What separates them is the published work, which both pages set out in full.

Why is PT-141 named in a Health Canada advisory?

Because it was among the peptides seized from sellers offering unauthorized injectable products online. The advisory concerns material sold for people to inject without authorization. Borealis Peptides supplies research material for laboratory use and sells nothing for injection or for any use in a person, which is the line that advisory draws.
