What is 5-Amino-1MQ?

The literature describes 5-Amino-1MQ as small-molecule nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) inhibitor. Published work on it is in rat, mouse and cell culture. The name covers the same material written several ways in the literature, including 5-amino-1-methylquinolinium, 5A1MQ and 5-AMQ. Its sequence is recorded as Not a peptide: a quinolinium small molecule, detected in LC-MS/MS at m/z 159.1 (Awosemo et al. 2021). No human study of 5-Amino-1MQ has been published, so nothing on this page describes what it does in a person. Borealis Peptides supplies it as lyophilised powder in 50 mg vials for in-vitro laboratory research. Nothing here is a medicine; it is not for human or veterinary use.

What these studies don't show: These studies were done in animals and cells. The human question is open, because no human study exists. Dose, route and timing in an animal model do not transfer to people, and nothing here should be read as if they did. A certificate of analysis answers what the material is, not what it does.

5-Amino-1MQ FAQ

What is 5-Amino-1MQ?

Chemically, 5-Amino-1MQ is classed as small-molecule nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) inhibitor. The published work on it is in rat, mouse and cell culture. Borealis Peptides supplies it as lyophilised powder in 50 mg vials for in-vitro laboratory research. Nothing here is a medicine; it is not for human or veterinary use. Every reference here is listed with the model it ran in and the finding as published.

Where can I buy 5-Amino-1MQ in Canada?

Direct from Borealis Peptides, held in Canadian stock so nothing crosses a border on its way to you. Stocked in 50 mg vials. Purity is confirmed by HPLC batch by batch, and we supply for laboratory research only. HPLC runs on each batch, and the certificate you receive refers to the batch you were sent.

Is 5-Amino-1MQ legal in Canada?

5-Amino-1MQ has no Drug Identification Number, which is how Health Canada marks a drug it has authorized. It has had no safety, efficacy or quality review from Health Canada. Borealis Peptides supplies it for in-vitro laboratory research only, not for human or veterinary use. Health Canada has said that "Research Use Only" labelling does not make a product legal to use in a person, so we treat it as a description of what the material is supplied for rather than a permission.

How much 5-Amino-1MQ should I use?

There is none to give. Nothing on this site is a protocol, a schedule or a reconstitution volume. The amounts in the cited studies belong to those studies and to the models they ran in, and they are listed so the evidence can be weighed rather than taken on trust.

Has 5-Amino-1MQ been tested in people?

No. The 7 studies cited here used animals or cell culture. There is no published human study of 5-Amino-1MQ, so there is no evidence about what it does in a person, and this page makes no claim about that. The animal work is listed with its model so it can be read for what it is.

What storage does 5-Amino-1MQ need?

Unopened, keep it at −20 °C in the dark. After mixing, storage is 2–8 °C. Ambient transit does not harm the dry powder, which should be refrigerated once received. Keeping it dark and at a steady temperature matters more than how fast it arrived.

How is the purity of 5-Amino-1MQ confirmed?

Identity and purity are confirmed by HPLC for each batch, not once per product. The certificate names the batch it belongs to, and that batch number is on the vial, so a result can be traced back to the exact material that produced it. Ask with your order number and we send it.

How does 5-Amino-1MQ compare with NAD+ and MOTS-C?

They are not interchangeable, and this page makes no claim that one is preferable. NAD+ and MOTS-C have 8 cited studies and 7 cited studies on their page against 7 here. The useful comparison is between the two study tables and the models behind them.
